Review what happened in Bolivia Bolivia410

I am involved in the permaculture movement as a solution for how we can live as a society, a framework for making a real difference to all our lives, and help create systems for our survival at the same time. I am also very interested in how we tend to collectively wait for others to identify our problems, solve problems for us, feed us information, to give things to us, rather than the other way around.

I love this platform as it puts the onus right back on the individual to be responsible and get connected and do something to share. It also provides a virtual community space where we can connect and share, when distances are too hard to travel in person. Sharing knowledge is almost as important as sharing a surplus crop.

I like that we can all share equally, and it is not up to a moderator to decide what you can share and when. Again it enables the individual to be responsible.

These are some countries I have visited although looking at it now the carbon footprint for these movements has been very signficant and it will take some time to redress this. No future travel planned, except in e-space.

To Csalter for accepting strange challenges and providing much-needed inspiration:

May be it’s silly but here’s a Barnstar I lugged over here from Wikipedia backed with the MediaWiki dandelink..

A token of strength and beauty working together to make a difference within a harmony of healthy change.

(kindof corny eh? .. But it’s yours to have in your accolaides.. did i spell that right?)

Hi Celeste,

Thanks for the invitation to WiserCOP16. I am glad to see that people really did survive COP15 🙂 While I was only virtually there, I was as involved and emotionally vested as if I had been present.

A lot of us have learned from the experience, and I hope it will indeed be a Wiser COP16.

Kind Regards,

Larry Oliver

Hi Celeste,

My sincerest appreciation, for your inviting me to share your objectives and interest in just what makes humanity tic… or toc. Tic being we do our part in Life; and toc… we wait for others to do our part.

Both tic and toc are directly related to the ‘Who’ we are beyond the ‘Whom’ we have been indoctrinated to believe we are. More tics, means we are knowledgeably being our true selves… or at least, even if not aware of whom we are, we are performing on the right path to find out. More tocs… means that the pendulum has gone out of balance and we have fallen too far into being ‘mere man’. The later, victims of society and human surroundings all the same.

Recognition of part, at least to be the ‘Who’ we are in Life’s True Natures and Reality, comes from recognition of the ‘Who’ we are beyond that, ‘Whom’ we have been convinced to be. Once, ‘man’ finds True Self, he realizes that ‘man’ never really existed; and further, he/she becomes the Actual Being, Who was created, or born into, this Physical Garden. At this ‘Moment’ there is no stronger desire then to do their part… in Love, and with the Wisdom, Intelligence, Knowledge, Understanding, and Compassion > that are part of their DNA. A DNA, Who flows from the One Artist and Sculpture of All that is.

In brief, Oneness becomes a Universal Environment in the Performance of One Part for Everyone… and for Life Itself, beyond man’s versions of living.

Take care always.

Smile.

Hi Celeste and thanks for the invite to your network and the Peace Wall. I too am very interested in Permaculture and Peace and combining the two! Also resonate with what you say about personal empowerment or the apparent lack of among many. I guess that’s what I’m most involved in encouraging folks to do in my paid work – recognise their part in the grand scheme of things and to reclaim it.

From what I’ve read so far on permaculture, the food growing part sounds a whole lot easier to implement in Australia than here in the UK, although I realise that could be a limiting belief of mine. I do my best in our bit of back garden in the West Country and feel blessed to know Patrick Whitefield as he lives just a few miles away. He is so generous with his time and knowledge and just a genuinely nice man!

Thanks in advance for your guides to using Wiser Earth – am about to have a good look at those. 🙂

Kind regards,

Sally

A New Day Coming

by Mychal Wynn

When the sun announces the dawning day
Just flex your muscles and start on your way.
Go over, or under, around, or through
Any obstacles or hurdles that challenge you.
There’s a new day coming.

Cast aside the failures of yesterday.
Forget the peaks and valleys that have paved your way.
Wipe the sweat from your brow and the dust from your shoe.
Take a breath and relax so that you may begin anew.
There’s a new day coming.

Forget the burdens and obstacles that have held you back.
Focus on your dreams and prepare a plan of attack.
There are battles awaiting to challenge your success.
Daring you to stand tall and to give it your best.
There’s a new day coming.

No matter how great the journey, or how heavy the load
How steep the mountain, or how rough the road.
When your arms grow weary and legs give way
Stop and rest for a moment, it will be okay.
There’s a new day coming.

As shadows spring forth from the setting sun.
Take a moment and savor the battles you’ve won.
Sleep peacefully tonight and enjoy your rest.
Awaken tomorrow and continue your quest.
There’s always, a new day coming.

Hi Celeste,

I had the pleasure of a brief visit to the Blue Mountains during a somewhat longer visit to Sidney. It’s very exciting that you are involved in the Permaculture movement. We have a Permaculture Guild here (Madison, WI) and we’ve done about 10 permie-blitz projects from small to medium size. We’re constantly educating people and it’s a lot of fun. I got my Permaculture Design Certificate last August & am still trying to figure out what to put in our front yard (the only sun on our property). There will be a swale from the downspout to collect water, and fruiting trees and bushes and medicinal plants, but I don’t have a design yet. It’s a bit daunting.

And we just had a very successful Transition Town training last weekend that will spin off groups in Madison, Milwaukee and Jefferson County (between the 2 cities).

Onward to sustainability

Celeste, have a Wiser 2010!

Your comment on my first post was very useful. I’ve been thinking about how to put my knowledge into action in an effective, smart way. Although I haven’t drawn to any definitive conclusions, I’m very interested in communicating people about climate change, sustainable dev’t. Throughout the next weeks I’ll look for deeper info on what I can do.

And what about you? Hope you achieve success throughtout these new 365 days, as may they be full of health, peace and sustainability!

To everyone here in Wiserearth, members and those passing by

Have a Wiser 2010

For me that means getting my priorities in the right order, putting the effort in the tasks and activities that need to get done, and encouraging those around me to do the same.

I’ll let you know how successful I was later in this endeavour later in 2010!

Cheers Celeste

Hi Celeste,

Many thanks for the invite to join your network and Wiser Connections. I was hesitant to join Wiser Connections because I don’t tend to have much to say I am passionate about or really interested in a subject and/or outraged by someone or some groups action or inaction. I have noticed, however, that I have spoken up a few times so I will continue to learn as much as I can and speak when I think I have something to add to our conversations.

Blessings to you and on your work,

Frank

Things I Love to Do

by Sybil Beulah Maus

I love to walk in dripping woods
When raindrops drum on leaves,
Where sodden footsteps tell of streams
Beneath the roots of trees;
Where violets grow, and snow-white trilliums
Lift their heads in countless millions
...In spring.
I love to loll upon a bank,
And watch the puffy clouds
Shape maps and woolly forms of sheep
That melt away in shrouds;
Where brown-eyed daisies and Queen Anne's lace
Flaunt their petals in my face
...In June.
I love to tramp a dusty road
When August days are mellow,
When noontime heat in shimmering haze
Turns goldenrod to yellow;
Or hear cicadas lost in trees
Shrill their tunes in myriad keys
...In summer.
I love to tread a golden path
When aspen leaves are falling,
Or listen to the quiet dirge
Of blue jays softly calling,
Or sit upon a country fence
And breathe October's sweet incense
...In autumn.
I love to see a crystal world
All sparkling in December
When brilliant skies and frosted earth
Have blotted out November;
When every shrub and tree is dressed
In silvery lacy loveliness
...In winter.

Hello to all and thank you Celeste for the invite to join group. I am nearing 60, live in the US, and have been interested in Permaculture for many years, since Bill Mollison’s books came out. For almost 20 years I worked in the area of recording conferences and making high-speed copies of the talks for sale. It was using a now defunct recording media called a cassette tape. I continue to work with the Ecological Farming Association to record their annual conference held at Asilomar near Monterrey, California. I would be happy to share recorded talks with anyone if you could help me learn how to send large files. A wav file of an 80 minute CD is half a gig with the MP3 for the same compressed to about half of that.

I am interested in continuing to learn about permaculture.

Changing the name is a good idea to keep in line with the other Sydney groups but someone will need to change all the other titles on Wiserearth and the acronym to PBM all over.

I am wondering how to do this on the website. We also have that silly email address.
