“The idea of WiserEarth/ Netsquared (gatherings) is a totally new concept in West Africa”

Q: How are you bringing people together in West Africa?

Well, given the constraints about internet accessibility for most people in this region, my activities are mostly carried out as follows:

1. Focus group discussions during visits to communities, non-governmental meetings as well as with some business entities

2. Phone-in discussions with other west african regional partners. This exercise is proving to be very exciting in terms of exchange of ideas, but it is also very cost demanding

3. Meet with legal and like-minded stakeholders whenever on official assignment to my organization’s project areas especially when we are discussing environmental and socio-economic rights, including corresponding roles and responsibilities of those involved in decision making processes.

4. My most recent endeavour is on going relative to the filming of a human rights documentary with basic rudimentary explanations about how the rule of law in a democracy overides impunity, corruption and general misuse of office.

Our main challenge? We need some sponsorship assistance in terms of awareness raising technical facilities specifically while using media outlets like the internet, etc
