Team’s Story:

The team’s first community education event was a team walk from the Bay to Breakers in San Francisco. They wore NGC t-shirts that they created and passed out over 400 flyers about their club and their Global Project, Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL). It was an exciting and great first event for this dynamic team. In June the team held a fundraiser at Chevy’s Restaurant, inviting fellow students, staff, and parents from their school, as well as community members. The restaurant agreed to donating 25% of that night’s proceeds to the NGC team to support their Global Project Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL). This awesome team are members of a special group of NGC students that communicate with students in AIL programs across Afghanistan.


They share about their lives and ideas of the world and ask questions to the Afghan students.

NGC Foothill College plans to continue to support AIL in the 2010-2011 program.

NGC Team: Troy High School

Project Supported: School on Wheels

Project Location: Los Angeles, California

Team’s Story:

Troy High NGC has had a great year supporting their Global Project, School on Wheels. They held several bakesales throughout the year that promoted awareness about homeless children in Los Angeles as well as raising funds to support the cause.

The team was especially proud of their “fundraising letter” project that allowed them to educate friends, family, and fellow students about their project, School on Wheels and how they help provide educational opportunities to homeless children throughout Los Angeles. In addition to providing community education, the fundraising letter raised significant funds for the team to support their project.

Apart of International Week at their school, Troy High NGC sold Jamba Juice raising funds and awareness.

Troy High NGC had a great year and plans on having another successful year in 2010-2011.
