We’re pleased to announce a new member to the WiserEarth Team: Celeste Salter, who in our new Online Community Manager. You may have heard of her! For the last two years, Celeste has been working as a volunteer as a WiserEarth Editor.

Celeste joined WiserEarth almost 3 years ago. In May 2009 she became a WiserEarth Editor. Since that, she has been working to connect new users to groups, resources and other people with similar interests, and to assist group administrators with building their community online. She set up the Permaculture Blue Mountains group to assist the permaculture community to connect and share resources easily. She also recently assisted in launching WiserAustralia with Karen Corr and Wibowo Sulistio (Bowo).

Here is what Celeste had to share:
“I like connecting people to people and working with others to build outcomes that will be beneficial for the planet. At this time I see that as us all sharing our knowledge and resources globally on how to live on the planet without destroying it at the same time. The WiserEarth site and community allows this to happen at whatever level you choose to operate – locally, regionally, nationally or internationally. As a community manager I hope to assist the WiserEarth community to engage with its potential and get even more out of the platform that has so much to offer us all.”

What is Bowo doing?
So, you must wonder what Bowo will be doing? Bowo is taking the position of Global Outreach and Partnership Director for WiserEarth. As you know, WiserEarth has become more international, but to be truly global, it is key that we join forces with other actors in the space, and work for greater collective impact, together. We want to put more emphasis in this global collaboration, and Bowo will be leading these efforts.

We look forward to seeing Celeste bringing the WiserEarth community closer together, and Bowo’s work in expanding WE’s reach and impact through localization and partnerships. Please join us in welcoming Celeste to the WiserEarth team!
