About

An initiate of several ancient wisdom traditions including: Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Mystical Christianity, my interest in comparative religion began in earnest as a teenager.  After a youth group trip to the Vatican and then to Israel, and after many years of independent study, I decided to spend some time living with Buddhist and Hindu monks. I made many friends on my journey. During my studies I had the opportunity to learn from several renowned scholars as well as many hours of formal meditation training.

In addition to my interest in comparative religion my background also includes having worked as a professional: graphic designer, recording artist, audio technician, publishing consultant, meditation teacher, and multimedia developer.

More recently, my studies led me to become certified in Interfaith Conflict Resolution by the United States Institute of Peace, and I've also become a lay monk of the Order of Interbeing; founded by world famous peace activist and Zen Buddhist Monk, Thich Nhat Hanh.

I currently serve as Executive Director of Monks Without Borders, a nonprofit interfaith group, leading the initiative to establish America's very first Museum of World Religions.  I am also very honored to serve on the Southern California Committee for a Parliament of the World's Religions.

Welcome to WiserEarth Zach!

Sending this along with a favourite quote of mine:

My soul is a Mosque for Muslims,

a Temple for Hindus,

an Altar for Zoroastrians,

a Church for Christians,

a Synagogue for Jews,

and a Pasture for gazelles,

~Ibn Arabi
