About
I am the founder of Yvonne Randolph Enterprises and life.style.tribe. I am also on the board of Touch of Love.
Touch of Love is dedicated to sustainable giving. As we explored and researched the needs of the poor in developing and Third World countries, we realized that each family was similar to the next, and that just giving them money or food would not bring about change. In response, we developed a micro-lending program in order to create a sustainable source of supply. Al Koum Al Akhdar, our first project in a village outside of Cairo, is a glowing testimony to the success of this system of giving ("instead of giving a man a fish, teach him how to fish"). After only two years, this village is completely self-sustaining. This means that all new loans that are funded here are financed by the interest from the existing loans. Approximately 10 new loans are funded each month with a 100% repayment rate. We now have over 135 successful projects. These statistics are unmatched! Given the immense need and the great number of organizations that exist, we are committed to creating abundance, not an endless chasm of growing need. By providing a means of self support, micro-loans are such an exciting solution. Every dollar is turned into many more. Personal responsibility and dignity are encouraged, as are education, growth and community. These effects are even more valuable than the money itself in countries like Egypt that contend with over population, poverty, lack of education and resources, and constantly changing political and religious pressures and influences. Micro- loans are the worlds only perpetual motion giving mechanisms.
We begin in each village by partnering with an already existing non-profit community organization. This allows us to tap into the needs of each particular village with an insight that would normally take extensive time and research. By using the already experienced staff of these small community organizations this also creates accountability and hands on training for those seeking a small loan. Our second village project in Naslet Hanna is in the middle stages of becoming self- sustaining, and a third project in Ebn Tolon, an impoverished borough in the slums of Cairo is awaiting funding to begin. This is where you come in! We need your help to complete our seed funding in Naslet Hanna and create total sustainability there and to initiate our efforts in Ebn Tolon. Each loan costs between $400 and $500 U.S. dollars. Naslet Hanna will stand on it's own with 50 more loans, and to start our program in Ebn Tolon we also need to raise funds for 50 loans. Get involved with monthly giving programs, corporate sponsorship, and individual to individual sponsorship. Each dollar makes such a difference! We will keep you updated with the rapid progress as your dollars go to work and continue to give over and over again.
