About

I serve as Director for Marketing and Communications for the AtKisson Group, based in Stockholm. The AtKisson Group was founded by sustainability expert Alan Atkisson. Since 1992, the company has been providing innovative, high-impact consulting services to clients across sectors. AtKisson's advice, training programs, assessments, and practical tools are trusted by companies, communities, governments, and organizations, large and small, around the world.

Prior to my job with AtKisson, I earned my Masters of Science degree in the Strategic Leadership Towards Sustainability program at the Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) in Sweden. I teamed up with Derm Hikisch and Molly Doyle on a thesis entitled Organizational Networks as Catalysts for Strategic Sustainable Development. that looked at how complex networks work today and how they may help become a larger driver towards a more Sustainable Society (sites like Wiser were especially encouraging in realizing this goal!).

A Philadelphia native, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where I earned my B.A. in Political Science. I'm a six-year veteran of the US Marine Corps, and worked for seven years a political/governmental consultant and strategist in San Francisco and Pittsburgh. In this capacity, I managed or consulted for dozens of local and national contests, including Al Gore’s 2000 Presidential campaign. Past consulting projects have included the creation of a community strategic plan in Pittsburgh and environmental affairs consultation to a Pennsylvania State Senator.

While in university, I helped launch a national, student-led workforce development agency calledNational Student Partnerships; tens years later, I co-founded its Alumni Association and was elected its first President. I have served on a number of Boards of Directors and advisory boards. I was also an original organizer of the Green Drinks networking sessions in Pittsburgh and Stockholm.

Hey Shawn! I am doing that Master's in Karlskrona too!! I'm very excited to visit Sweden and meet others who are dedicated to the pursuit of a more sustainable society. I'm very interested in the potential of the Investment Industry to promote change (using SRI and shareholder advocacy), what have you been working on??
