International Fire Management Assessment & Training Consultant/Senior Scientist with a unique background identifying and addressing conservation and ecosystem restoration issues around the world that emphasize the integration of the social, ecological, political and technical aspect of fire-related threats affecting biodiversity conservation, climate change, and people's livelihoods. - Created and coordinated The Nature Conservancy's Latin America & Caribbean Fire Learning Network—a multi-country network that brought together scientists, high-level government decision-makers, fire management experts, and on-the-ground conservation managers to accelerate learning to address issues related to the impact of wildfires and agricultural burning on biodiversity conservation and climate change throughout the region.
- Conducted regional conservation assessments in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Trinidad, China and Mongolia.
- Designed and implemented conservation and fire management training courses in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Paraguay, Argentina, South Africa, and Indonesia.
- Develped The Nature Conservancy's fire management program--the only international conservation organization that has a program addressing fire-related issues.
