Just a bit about me and my background:
- I come from a very conservative Midwestern Mennonite family. While I still hold to my belief in God, I do not consider myself a member of the Mennonite faith at this point in my life, but still greatly treasure the history and heritage of the church that I was brought up in. Some segments of the Mennonite faith, especially the Anabaptist movement, coincides very strongly with a number of my social and political beliefs.
- I currently live in Las Vegas with my wife and 2 dogs. I originally came to Vegas as a radio personality in 1998, and have since ventured into real estate while continuing some part-time radio work.
- My political and social beliefs tend to lean left. I believe that our country is at a crossroads in history. Our decisions with relation to the Middle East and our continued policy of global imperialism will have to change if we are to survive. We take many things upon ourselves and make the kind of decisions for others that we would greatly oppose if someone were to do it to us. The Iraq war is just one example. Throughout history we have carried out wars with the claim that we are preventing imminent danger from overtaking us. Most of these wars occur solely to increase our global empire. They are strategically and geopolitically important acts. Some of these wars have been secret, and some have been very public. Most are planned out years in advance. 9/11 is just one example of a perfect prelude to war. I strongly believe as well that at the very least our government had very detailed knowledge of the events of that day and failed to act because they wanted to reap the political benefits. That is the best case. Worst case is that the entire day was organized by elements of our government in cooperation with other governments and organizations (such as Al Queada). Our fellow citizens need to take it upon themselves to learn more about what has really gone on with our foreign policy over the past century. We will then start to realize why the world's opinion of us is the way it is. Until we start to truly practice compassion to our fellow man, we will be in very serious danger.
