About
When the World Peace Forum was held in Vancouver in
2006, over 40 citizen journalists united to research, produce, film, and
edit over 120 hours of footage. Producer Dave Maidman of Pumpkinhead
Productions remarked, “The fact that everyone came together reflects the
grassroots nature of the peace movement. We did an amazing job because
everyone was so committed to the concept of peace.”
“Working with international activists such as Hans Blix, Rex Weyler, K’Naan, Dahar Jamal and Holly Near made me aware of the complexities of peace,” said Director Corey Ogilvie of DreamHouse Cinema. “It has certainly changed the way that I think and it has changed me as a global citizen.”
Although the film was just released, it has already become successful due to an online campaign by peace groups who would like to bring the troops home.
A large portion of the profits of Think Peace: Portrait of a 21st Century Movement will go to assist the War Resisters Support Campaign in Canada and the Iraq Veterans Against War in the U.S.
