The world is changing so rapidly in this age that we are still coming to grips with how powerful an impact
we can have on this planet and its surroundings. When we rose to the imposing challenges of WWII,
we transformed ourselves as a society, a nation, and a people. We believe that Americans are ready to
tap into that spirit once more, by realizing that each and every one of us is an effective weapon against
climate change.

While Americans understand this threat, we have yet to adapt our habits accordingly. Consequently,  
we continue to be relatively wasteful in our use of energy. We are often guilty of leaving lights on after
exiting a room, not turning our computers off overnight, etc

The focus of The Hot Party is to transform this wastefulness into a resource. If every American house-
hold turned off one 60-watt light bulb for two hours a day, it would remove 5,356,664 tons of carbon
from the atmosphere annually, the equivalent of taking 1,046,114 cars off the road for one year. It would
save over $545 million dollars in energy costs.
