I'm a former newspaper editor and publisher now working on a magazine piece and book with the story line, "Why Do Do-Gooders Do Good?" There is a lot of academic research on the subject but it’s rather dry. When an altruistic or generous act occurs there is coverage of what happened and who did it, but virtually nothing on why they did it. I want to explore this by interviewing people who have done good in memorable ways against the background of research on the subject.
