Hey, Silverbear! Silverbear was the handle I used the very first time I ever chatted 'online'. It was on your Commodore 64 at your place the time I drove out to visit you in Albuquerque in the winter of 86-87.' I remember getting hit with snowstorms practically as soon as I left California. At times, I was the only one driving on unplowed highways. With no chains to put on I just steered my Toyota station wagon down the middle of the road and slid my way forward. When I finally got to your place, you weren't home yet. I paced back and forth for about 3 hours trying to keep warm. Then I ran into your apartment manager and managed to talk him into letting me into your apartment. When you got home you unlocked the door, walked in and saw me, and without missing a beat you said, "I figured you'd find a way to get in." Your house wasn't built yet then but you took me out there and we walked the lot where your house was about to be built. It was already stemmed out for electricity and we walked through an almost finished house that was a twin to the one you were having built. It was like you were moving to the very edge of civilization. I still have the videotape that I shot while you were driving us on a tour through some classic little New Mexico hamlets. That was a long time ago but it was a great time.
