Starting from a small group of socially motivated college level students, in years it has grown and matured in to a well structured and professionally managed social organisation partnering with various statutory bodies, government ministries, unions, corporate bodies and international agencies. Today its volunteers exceed 12000 and are spread across several states, colleges, universities and villages in rural areas.

Along with geographical and structural expansion, it has also been ever expanding its horizon of initiatives and range of interventions. Through its several local units and socially committed volunteers Shakti Vahini is effectively active in fields of Human Rights, Women and Child issues, trafficking in Human Beings, Bonded labour, Health, HIV/AIDS, Education, Environment, Legal Aid and training, Research & Documentation, Networking, Volunteerism, Community development etc.
