About
My passions are photography, travel, and human rights, especially the rights of women and children. I have been traveling since 1997, volunteering, and documenting what I have witnessed.
My travels have included, Haiti, Domican Republic, and Cuba, as I lived in the Virgin Islands the past 15 years. I just recently moved back to the mainland to Virginia as I am working on getting an NGO started Media Arts for orphans and women.
I have spent months in orphanages and monasteries in Thailand & India. In Thailand I worked with orphans, teaching English, and going to the Women's Prison every Friday. In India I stayed 3 months in Dharamsala, where I worked with the Tibetan Women's
Association, Ex Political Prisoners of Tibet, and Tibetans in a half way house, that were recovering from alcohol and drug addictions. I also studied Buddhist Philosophies 6 days a week. I had the honor of meeting and photographing the 17th Karmapa Lama and seeing His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I helped set up support groups. I sponsor several monks and women in Dharamsala. A lot of work is waiting for us to help the women and girl's of India as many in villages are treated inhumane, sold for a few dollars, raped, and endure lives no human should have to live.
I have been to Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Burundi 3 times. I sponsor several women in Rwanda and the Congo. I am going again, flying into Kigali, Jan. 8, 2010 till April 10th. I will go to the above countries including, Sudan and Chad refugee camps.
