About
I currently work for the Washoe Tribe of California and Nevada. The Washoes are Native Americans indigenous to the Eastern Sierras in the Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley, Reno area. I recently became the Recycling Coordinator, which recycles household goods, appliances, and vehicles for the Washoe communities. I also work on the Conservation Crew under the Environmental Department. We do a variety of projects, including forestry work, community work, fireline, fencework, and many other projects.
I'm originally from New Mexico, where i went to high school and attended the University of New Mexico for one year. I then transferred to the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. I studied International Studies and Japanese for three years. I then decided to major in Environmental Studies. After taking a few years off, I finished school in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies.
I have work experience that includes an internship with the State of Oregon Water Resource Department, office of the Watermaster. We worked with surface and groundwater rights. I have also worked at an Outdoor Science Camp, Camp Highland, in Southern California, teaching outdoor science topics to fifth and sixth graders. I worked for the Nevada Conservation Corps on a chainsaw crew. I also did some work with the non-profit Sustainable Forestry Network in Oregon. Finally, I worked with adjudicated youth in Lake Tahoe in an outdoor oriented program.
My interests and hobbies include movies, outdoor pursuits, Taekwondo, reading, international issues, basketball, and soccer.
