About
Breakfast and Conversation!
Every Sunday morning at 9am, the historic Red Victorian Bed and
Breakfast hosts a free Peaceful World Conversation- open to everyone.
The conversations are an opportunity for San Franciscans and travelers
alike to get together and share stories of our lives and the lessons
we've learned, make new friendships, and engage in open dialogue. We
hope to continue building a global network of travelers and
conversationalists committed to doing good for the world and each
other.
WHO: You! And anyone you want to bring along. The more the merrier!
Conversationalists also often include guests of the Red Vic B+B.
WHAT:
Peaceful World Conversations typically go for 90 minutes, though
everyone is welcome to stay as long as they like. Conversation is free
and delicious breakfasts are available for purchase from our cafe (think omelets, crepes, and more!)
WHERE: The Red Victorian B+B at 1665 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA
WHEN:
Every Sunday morning at 9am (usually until 10:30am, at which time the
conversation 'closes' but participants are welcome to stay and chat as
long as they like)
WHY: Peaceful World Conversations are an opportunity to meet,
connect and share with a circle of people you might never otherwise
meet..
Plus, Why not?
A little bit about me:
If
you ask where I was born, it was in a little town in the northwest corner
of the state of Washington. BUT I was born to parents with big ideas.
Before 1923 when she met my father, my mother had already been around the
world, living in China, England and Canada. Daddy came west from Chicago
to live in "God's Country." So I grew up hiking in our forests and knowing
people of a variety of races and religions who were always welcome in our
home.
I consider many parts of our beautiful planet home. All my life I have been studying the effects and potentials of tourism in many cultures, from Fiji and the Polynesian islands to Bali, Australia, Germany, Denmark, and much of Europe and north Africa. My goal is, with your help, to offer a brave new alternative to corporate tourism.
I am an entrepreneur. I believe in self-employment and in choosing a profession which makes a better world, and a better self. At the Red Vic we demonstrate that cultural tourism can offer positive, educational experiences to travelers, and that it can be a sustainable business enterprise for individuals, families and even villages around the world. The Red Victorian is a model for Peaceful World bed & breakfasts, serving as Cultural Tourism Meccas for travelers intent on bettering their lives and the world around them.
If you know other hospitality entrepreneurs, please let us know. We are always reaching for individuals and villages around the world who wish to support themselves by offering their own personalized local alternative to corporate tourism.

Hi Sami,
I invite you to join the Culture of Peace Initiative group. I hope you can share any insight or experiences on peacebuilding with our group! I'm curious about what you have observed and learned from all of the conversations about peace you have had. I definitely plan to attend a Peaceful World Conversation in San Francisco, in the near future :)
Peace, |

Hi Sami it is good to hear from you and very timely. I have stayed at the Red Vic and in fact performed musically there on more than one occasion. I just finished reading the note you left me on my profile. I am actively involved in assembling a network of regional learning centers. These regional learning centers will disseminate best practices for sustainable living. I am working to build such a center here in the Pacific Northwest visit http://www.21acres.org
I will be in San Francisco next week. I'm available on Tuesday or Wednesday if you have some time and interest in meeting to discuss this further.
thanks! Jon Ramer |
