I am in full agreement with you Deborah!

Thanks for the suggestion Deborah. Can you tell me more about Global Voices Online and where you think the collaboration could be? We already are using Launchpad for translations and have a lot of the site translated already.

In terms of my original idea, I was asking whether everyone agrees that we need different editors group per language.

Can you add another section (8?) on the impact of the localization for future code release? Basically, every time there will be a new code release, there may be the need for some immediate translations.

It seems like this is a great start. Shouldn't we have user case scenario for each goals? Also as we move forward, it would be great to identify the "must have" or is this basically that list?

I like your suggestions Celeste. Here are my thoughts:

Area 1) Content Moderation/Creation

Area 2) Community support: helping people on how to use WiserEarth, respond to questions on Help Desk

Area 3) Networking: connecting people to others who share their passion through people/group connection

As for the Regional Coordinators, I am not sure what you had in mind Celeste. Right now, Camilla is leading the WiserTuesday effort which intends to complement WiserEarth with more Face to Face. If this is what you have in mind, I woudl suggest it is part of WiserTuesday, and not the Editor's group

As you all know, WiserEarth is getting right now translated in Spanish, French, and many other languages. We want to start ensuring that we replicate the governance of the Editor's group in those languages.

I propose that each language has its own editors group (We need to assume that a lot of editors in those languages will not speak English).

The idea is to have the Chief Editor of those languages be part of the current WiserEarth Editors group, and of course be close to Bowo.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Narda, the notes are up! Feel free to ask questions if anything is unclear

I am reflecting on today 1st editor's meeting, it was purely amazing!

It is indeed needed, we have always struggled to find the right terminology.

I do like Projects too although solutions was implying that it was a proven solution to a problem.

This is a great idea indeed. The tech team, including Honore, are currently looking at Facebook Connect and how to put it on WiserEarth. I need to check with Honore but we might be able to have that implemented late September. If you want to know more about it, feel free to contact Honore. He has been doing research around it, and we were just talking about it at our tech meeting last week.

Just wanted to let you know i recently update the "about page" for WiserEarth as we just hired 2 new interns
Sm_avatar
Agree with Timonie, would be nice to have a clear "Call to Action" so people see how they can help
Sm_avatar
You are raising a very good point. Our content guidelines should indeed extend to more than the Directory content standards

Kerry, it is madness indeed, I could not believe it myself.

Beautiful Newsletter, thanks for putting it together

Mike, I can't believe I never saw your question. I guess I should be spending more time on the site :>

You are asking an excellent question. The Council will includes editors, affinity partners, experts and funders representatives. As you know the editors were selected by the Editors Group. For all other groups, the staff is compiling a list of relevant prospective members that will be agreed to by Paul, our founder. These people will be mostly pulled from people who have demonstrated a commitment and interest in WiserEarth. That would include the existing partners group, existing major funders, and existing experts of WiserEarth. This initial Advisory Council members will serve 2 year terms. They will form a nominating committee for future council members and they will vote to approve all future members.

I like the idea of latest activity being more visible, and maybe simplified

Thank you Atanda, I just sent you an internal message
