Background
I was raised in a small town called Briancon, spending my days in the snow, skiing during the winter and playing in the woods with my dog during the summer. My parents would always take me to incredible lakes in the mountains and I was taking all of this for granted!

It is sad to think that such places are becoming so precious and rare. My interest for the environment started at a young age. My work is my passion. I have been involved with the Natural Capital Institute NCI for nearly 4 years and half.

As Co Director of the Natural Capital Institute and Director of WiserEarth, it has been so nice to see WiserEarth evolved so organically. When I am not focusing on WiserEarth, I am concentrating  on our organization's development and general growth. We have an incredible team of people, very inspiring and supportive. If you want to join us, please contact us

In my spare time, I play with my daughter, ; volunteer within my community, sit by the fire place with my husband Oz and finally try to bring smiles to people in need for more happiness. I should also add that I will take any opportunities to dance.

To Autumn - a poem by John Keats

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,
Drows'd with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;
Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,--
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

On a more serious note, how about featuring the Climate Change Collection in the Encyclopedia of Earth on the landing page for Climate Change AoF?

Dear Ms. Ducette,

Thank-you for your inquiry in regards to my "inactivity" on Wiser. I have given your comunication serious consideration, and, after great reflection, updated my profile. I have also communicated to the climate and energy groups the aforementioned release of the climate change collection in the Encyclopedia of Earth.

Wirth best regards and true admiration and the deepest respect,

Yours sincerely,

Cutler

Hello Peggy,

Thank you for making contact. I am an advocate for our consciousnesses, but mostly an inactivist due to many work hours, and caregiving to my parents who are elderly; and I would like to stay aware our group's activity, and to eventually find my place there.

Gordon

Hello Peggy,

I sent you this message on duvette@ naturalcapital.org.

I am Temur Lursmanashvili, from Tbilisi, Georgia, Caucasus.
I am director of nongovernmental organization IBIP.

One of main subjects of my activities is socio ecological sustainability and harmony.

I do not understand instruments of “Wiser Earth” well and I am afraid I will lose a lot of time.

It is fine, that members of “Wiser Earth” have an opportunity to discuss thoughts. But virtual contacts can never replace real contacts.

I think it will be good if the members of “Wiser Earth” will have an opportunity of direct contacts.
Undoubtedly immediate meetings and seminars are more effective.

I suggest creating Base-Center for the members of “Wiser Earth” (and researcher-activists) for meetings, seminars, trainings and active recreation in Georgia.
Here (in Georgia) are excellent conditions to carry out (realize) such project.
- first of all there are 13 climate-geographical zone on the compact territory; there is stable, mild, temperate climate;
- second: enough quantity of isolated, almost wild territories are yet existing, what is supported by relief and rich nature;
- third: there is social and ethno cultural solidarity developed during thousands of years here;
- fourth: in all territory of Georgia the developed settlements, well-developed infrastructure and communications are easily accessible.
- fifth: there are well developed international transport communications entrance and moving of foreigners are unlimited.
- sixth: all means of modern telecommunications network are well developed and accessible (internet, telephone connection, mobile phone).
- seventh: foodstuff is various, accessible and not expensive; life is cheap.

In short, I suggest creating additionally one more WISER platform: “Wiser Earth Meeting” by the base in Georgia.

I offer you collaboration if this idea is interesting for you.
I ask you to help me to develop idea of creating Base-Center for the members of “Wiser Earth”. (WISER platform: “Wiser Earth Meeting”)

Greetings - I'm working hard to spend more time off the grid than on the grid, but wanted to thank you for contacting me. I'm delighted with Wiser Earth and will be back to visit again. Meanwhile, I've just discovered a fabulous sand box, giving me an opportunity to study animal tracks and pressure releases.

your work bears testimony for your passion for the 'unbreakable yet poor'...i have you as my inspiration for other 'race groups' in South Africa who are so numbed by the violence and crime they see it impossible to 'think' of getting their hands dirty to lift the needy. Blessings and congratulations on your work!

I would be willing to host multimedia tutorials at set times for new users to join or watch later. How can we go about starting a project like this? I could put together a rudimentary system involving sideshows and Skype conferencing. I would also be willing to use Desktop Assistant or a similar service to literally walk new users through using the site (especially institutional users who might contribute a great deal of content like job postings, resources or events).

Peggie:

I look forward to speaking with you on February 13. I was wondering if you do live webinars and/or tutorials on WiserEarth, especially for us "newbies" who may not know how to fully navigate and utilize the various functional and networking features? Please let me know if you do and, if not, can we work to make this happen.

We are moving steadily towards our education and training program, here, in New Jersey and have created a blog to serve as an interim place interested stakeholders can go to in order to learn about some of the existing resources (such as WiserEarth) and have updated the site with video, slide shows, and real-time analysis of green, smart, and sustainable projects. Here is a brief note about our latest posts and we invite you and your associates, here at WiserEarth to visit and post comments on the blog. Also, all are invited to contact me to do special postings, interviews, and eschange links to our web sites. Thank you for providing us with a wonderful resource.

GSS-SET Feature - Village of Huangbaiyu: Exploring Sustainable Design - Slideshow Photo Essay

China-U.S. Center for Sustainable Development: The Village of Huangbaiyu --- Introduction. In September 2002, the Joint Board of Councilors for the China-US Center for Sustainable Development prioritized the development of a demonstration sustainable village based on cradle to cradle design principles as a scalable model for the revitalization of China’s rural communities. Following a nationwide invitation for participation by the Center’s China Secretariat – The Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21 – the rural area of Huangbaiyu near Benxi City in Northeast China's Liaoning Province was selected for the first demonstration village design.

GSS-SET Featured Video - Urban Land Institute: Reality Check Washington D.C.

Reality Check: By the Urban Land Institute (ULI)- Over the past 15 years, regional visioning has emerged as a dynamic and important tool for building regional consensus related to growth issues. ULI’s regional visioning program of work assists District Councils and their partners as they plan, build upon, and implement regional exercises and visions. "Reality Check," a one-day participatory visioning exercise created by ULI Los Angeles and inspired by Envision Utah, is an important tool available to District Councils to engage regional leaders in a regional dialogue on growth issues.

Thanks, Peggy, for your work on WiserEarth. I find it an indispensable tool for my work in constructing and maintaining networks for action on peace justice and environmental issues. May we both grow and prosper as do the causes we hold dear.
Peace.

Hi Peggy, Am delighted to know about such a great idea. Change must come and people will bring about that change including my goodself. Count me among your group. Howevere, working in Africa needs both financial and material support. Advice as to how to attend kind support.
