About
CSLC is a 501 ( c ) 3 was organized in 1999 to foster Community awareness and appreciation, engender Service to the community, promote Learning, to strengthen our understanding of what makes community stronger, , and to give insight to the connection between our community and the source of all life. We define “Community” as everything alive within a physical boundary close to home. We define “Service” as a commitment to sustain life by using only resources available within that boundary. We define “Learning “ as creating economic means to work solely with our available resources. We define “Connection” as the discovery of and response to the sacred in the local community. Our vision is earth as sacred community.
I am the founder and director of a small non profit that focuses on changing perspective and the motion of youth and adults through community based service learning focused on agricultural sustainability, service in the community promoting and selling sustainable agricultural products from bicyle driven stands ( see image) learning focused on use and production of local resources, and connection to the spirit running the whole show. Our mission is manifested in Patchworks Farm, Patchworks Produce, and Patchworks CSA. We operate two small farms, several produce stands at local hospitals, and a workshop program called " The Sacred on Common Ground" to invite people from conventional faith communities to explore spirituality and our common beliefs through contact with the ground and the food that comes from it.
