About

As the Programs Manager at Architecture for Humanity, Nathaniel Corum leads AFH's American Indian Community Initiatives. In particular, he researches building prototypes and materials for a variety of AFH's projects, and contributes to its Open Architecture Network. Working alongside tribal members, Nathaniel has designed and built housing and community facilities with the Hopi (AZ), Navajo (AZ, NM), Turtle Mountain (ND), and Northern Cheyenne (MT). He is also involved in on-going research with respect to culturally, regionally and climate-appropriate housing prototypes.

A graduate of Stanford University, Nathaniel received a Master's in Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. Subsequently he won a Fulbright Scholarship to study preservation and urban poverty issues in North Africa. He is also the recipient of a Rose Architectural Fellowship, and the author of Building a Straw Bale House, published by the Princeton Architectural Press. Industry recognition for Nathaniel's work also includes coverage by various magazines: Architecture, Dwell, BusinessWeek, Metropolitain Home, and Design Like You Give a Damn.
