Matthew G. Trifiro is a co-founder and CEO of 1,000 Markets, Inc., a Seattle-based startup that builds e-commerce platforms modeled on public markets. He is also the founder and president of Saxifrage Ventures, Inc., an intellectual property holding company, and the Chairman of Commonweal Communities, a conservation-based housing developer based in Santa Fe, NM. He has served on the national Board of Directors of the Trust for Public Land since 2001, participating actively in the California Advisory Board, the South Florida Advisory Board, and most recenlty the Washington Advisory Board. In Los Angeles, he helped launch the Parks for People program with TPL and Mayor Jimmy Hahn and served as an advisor to Genesis LA. Formerly, he was co-founder and Vice President of Marketing of Wink Communications, Inc., a publicly-traded interactive television company. He has also been a technical writer, a magazine editor, a real estate investor, and a video game designer. He is a professionally trained cook (Tante Marie's Cooking School, San Francisco) and an avid hiker and kayaker. He lives on Orcas Island with his wife, Lisa, and his son, Alexander.
