I am an acoustician and engineer involved with understanding and finding solutions to the growing problem of human generted noise pollution in the sea. I have been working in this field since 1992. The issue is finally emerging as a driver of policy, but given that the most egregious noise-polluting interests include the US Navy and the petrochemical industry, there continues to be increasing opportunities to improve the conditions in the field.
In 2000 I co-founded and served as the science advisor for a public education non-profit that focused on community actions around Ocean Noise Pollution. In 2007 I founded Ocean Conservation Research (OCR) - a research orgnization focused on understanding the impacts and finding scientific and technical solutions the ocean noise pollution problem.
