Talk and Book Signing

With Kelly Bryson, author of “Don’t Be Nice be Real”

Kelly Bryson is a counselor and trainer for the Center of Non Violent Communication and is one of the leading teachers and proponents of these new keys for personal and social transformation. Many believe that Nonviolent Communication (NVC) contains some of the most powerful techniques available for sustaining love and harmony in relationships. Kelly has used these methods successfully in many challenging environments, including Northern Ireland, Bosnia during the war there, and among Palestinians and Israelis in the Middle East. Kelly will introduce some of the key ideas of NVC—methods that empower individuals with constructive tools for positive, life-affirming communication. His talk will be followed by a book signing.

Solstice Ceremony for World Peace and Healing

Led by Jon Rasmussen

Jon Rasmussen is a local shaman and author of “Dreaming Your World into Being.” He has an eclectic background of studies and training, from Tai, Chi, Chi Gung and Reiki, to Yoga, Naturopathy, and Neurolinguistic Programming,  His shamanic studies include, notably, apprenticeship with world renowned shaman Alberto Villoldo, and tutelage in the Andes with the mysterious Q’ero Indians of Peru. Jon has a growing national reputation as a carrier of the authentic shamanic tradition of the Americas. This will be a solstice ceremony employing traditional shamanic ritual tools for drawing down blessings upon our world, individually and collectively. There is no charge for the event.

Thought for the Day

A sublime network of interlocking laws and principles operates through all of nature. These same laws hold sway in human life, and in our activity of mind, emotions and body. The ancient Celts recognized this interlocking matrix that pervades all of space and which forms the fabric of universal interconnectedness. The Celts used their elaborate, intricate knots to represent this infinite unified web of harmonious interrelationship, without end or beginning, from everlasting to everlasting.

The secrets of nature are revealed not to those with the sharpest intellects, but to those who live in harmony with the subtle laws by practicing kinship with all life. For this reason these mysteries can only be fully understood by those whose hearts beat in sympathy with the cosmic pulse of life, the benevolence streaming from the universal heart. When we create conditions of harmony and peace within ourselves, we draw to us forces that have an affinity with our inner states. As we attune ourselves to the serene source of life and light within us—the seed of divine consciousness planted in our souls by higher beings—we emanate an unseen influence that links us to the goodness at the heart of the world.

The most powerful activity is unseen to the eyes. The rhythms of universal harmony are inaudible to the outer ear, but may be heard in one’s soul. The strongest force for good comes from those who exert dominion over their inner life and turn darkness to light within their own consciousness. Each step we take along this path brings us closer to the ultimate mystery—the realization that the love and goodness at the heart of the world awaits discovery within our own heart center.
