About
The South Florida Environmental Art Project, Inc. is a "501-c-3 exempt organization"--a nonprofit whose primary goal is the development of South Florida as a center for ecoart. Ecoart is defined by SFEAP, Inc. as a practice that brings art, science, engineering and community engagement together to address serious environmental issues. SFEAP, Inc. seeks to catalyze the growth of ecoart in South Florida through community ecoart education events and programs, and a series of ecoart apprenticeships for professional artists who live and work in the region. The first such apprenticeship is in development between 2009 and 2011 in Martin County, Florida. 5 apprentices will develop ecoart skills there under the tutelage of renowned ecoartist Betsy Damon (see her website at www.keepersofthewaters.org). SFEAP is exploring development of additional community ecoart education programming and apprenticeship development in all 5 watersheds in Florida. See www.sfeap.org for complete information on the organization.
