About
I love to create. Since
childhood I have always enjoyed making things such as doll’s clothes, nature
collages and printing my own cards and gift-wrap.
After completing a degree in clothing and design, I worked for a short period in the fashion industry. I then went on to teach fashion design and textile crafts in both the adult and further education sectors for ten years.
I currently teach on a freelance basis, running crafts workshops in my local community for people of all ages, including some with special educational needs or life-threatening illnesses. I have found crafts in a therapy situation to be both challenging and rewarding, and I also believe that the arts can help people discover joy and inner peace, even in the most difficult circumstances.
A freelance writer since 2003, I have used my teaching experience to write crafts projects and other educational articles for publications targeted at home-educating parents, carers, crafts therapists and anyone who has an interest in crafts and education. My features have been published in magazines in both the UK and North America. I have also published an E-book on crafting and I hope to produce further work in the near future.
