About
A native of New Mexico, U.S.A., I am a master's student at the University of Bergen, Norway in an interdisciplinary program called 'Water Studies'. My focus area is human geography, and I have just completed research in the trans-Himalayan district of Mustang, Nepal. I was assessing people's perceptions of changes in their water resources supply and the general condition of water scarcity in the region. My research has led me into the areas of traditional irrigation practices and agriculture, the relation between culture and ecology, and the cultural perceptions of natural phenomena.
I am driven by the belief that understanding traditional people's resource management practices will help humanity craft a roadmap toward the TRULY sustainable development of the future: becoming a balanced part of the ecological systems that our species depends on for survival.
