About
I've been involved in growing plants nearly all my life. My mother introduced me to both vegetable and ornamental gardening at a very young age and I also enjoyed the work my grandfather did as a test grower for Jackson Perkins Roses. I spent my primary growing up years in the Central Valley of California and obtained a degree in Agricultural Business from Fresno State University. Had I known then what I know now, I would have focused on horticulture instead of business. Instead it is something I've picked up on my own.
I prefer to garden organically and have sought out farmer's markets everywhere I've ever lived. My latest goal is to learn bee keeping.
Over the years in addition to agriculture and journalism, I have focused on community involvement through volunteerism with Habitat for Humanity, Planned Parenthood Rape Crisis Counseling, Master Gardeners, and most recently with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate).
