About

I am interested in fostering community connections. We live daily with uncertainty, and community ties create important avenues for happiness, stability, and prosperity. My tangible hobbies and pursuits include building the foundation for a community garden in Sausalito, learning about permaculture, completing the foot work to apply for graduate programs in Architecture, running, swimming, trail building, and feeling extremely grateful to live so close to the water. I am attracted to people, places, and things that inspire intellect and innovation.

Potential home for the Sausalito Community Garden.

A project of the Sausalito Garden Society, this site is

located at the N. end of Bridgeway Boulevard in the MLK

playing field parcel. It runs the length of the Marin School's parking

lot and is adjacent to the dog park. We have just begun the

process with the city to get this space approved. For more information

please drop me a line: kat AT sausalitogardensociety DOT org.

Scratch model of a parasidic micro ampitheatre that

hangs from an alley wall above BIX on Gold Street.

Final project for [IN] Architecture, UC Berkeley, Summer 2009.

Playing in the mud in Oregon's Mt. Jefferson Wilderness. This site

was being prepped for a 30 ft. trail structure, designed and build by my crew

of young adults as part of Northwest Youth Corps Backcountry Leadership Program in 2008.

This structure has a unique hybrid design: One part bridge with sills and stringers, one part

puncheon with large rocks that rest against the stringers and layered fill. Located in the

Wilammette National Forest, this trail is one of several feeders for the PCT. Way to go BLP!

Sunset on the Greek island of Thira (Santorini). A spectacular

evening show!

Winter in the Cascades at its best. View of the

Three Sisters from Mt. Bachelor backcountry. January 2007.

When things are going well, be mindful of adversity. When prosperous, be mindful of poverty. When loved, be mindful of thoughtfulness. When respected, be mindful of humility.
