·         Responsible for meeting the needs of clients and their pets while maintaining an organized, efficient, and welcoming work environment.

·         Inform pet owners of current health risks their dogs and cats could be facing and work with them to diminish these risks.

·         Handle stressful emergencies adequately by getting medical care to patients efficiently while calming distressed owners.

Teacher, Ballard High School Biodiesel Project/ECO Teach Excursion

Costa Rica/Seattle, WA                                                                               Summer 2006

·         Built biodiesel processor to enable Costa Rican farmers to grow shade grown organic coffee in a more sustainable and financially viable manner.

·         Led student team and handled on the ground logistics for 15+ high school age kids in Santa Maria, C.R.

Environmental Educator, YMCA Earth Service Corps/AmeriCorps

·         Responsible for service learning project management and promotion. Managed staff and volunteers, performed outreach, in charge of all event logistics.

·         Taught high school students leadership skills and then helped them apply it by fostering open mindedness, cooperative action and problem solving within their school and community.

·         Coordinated an Environmental Symposium for high school students by recruiting workshop presenters, reserving space, obtaining food sponsorship, and organizing student assistant teams.

·         Budget creation and tracking for Super Saturday summer volunteer projects.

Research Assistant, Environmental Change Research Group (ECRG) Paleoecology Lab, Eugene, OR                                                                                                            2004-2005

·         Independently sampled frozen lake cores to determine ecological change and fire frequency.

·         Processed frozen lake cores by utilizing lab equipment such as rulers, freezers, exacto knives and a centrifuge and used lab chemicals such as KOH.

·         Compared historic fire patterns vs. present day fire patterns by counting charcoal pieces and entering data into Excel.

Solo Pilots License

·         Received a solo pilot’s license in a Cessna 152 in White Stone, VA in 1998-1999 and continued flying a Cessna 172 in Newport, OR until 2000.
