About
bisdak (filipino from the visayas). permaculture design practitioner. educator by training and preference. used to be involved in technical training and work in the fields of electrical and printing technology. adventurous and innovative by nature. i enjoy the great outdoors.
i was first introduced to permaculture by my sister edna who joined a summer internship on alternative house design & construction in new mexico back in 2002, while doing her studies in clinical psychology in the US. but it was not until i bumped into peak oil and realized its stark & long term consequences, did my mind and then my heart fully open up to the world and ideas of permaculture.
i did my PDC with Geoff & Nadia Lawton at Diversity Farms in March 2007, and then was able to attend the APC9, australian permaculture convergence on their 30th anniversary. i was so happy to meet many pioneers of permaculture, as well as many younger ones who are doing marvelous initiatives that are powerfully relevant today, i consider it a privilege to have experienced firsthand the vigor and vision of the permies who converged at APC9. And many thanks to PN, Permaculture North for having organized and hosted APC9!
back in cebu, with my sister edna and mom, we founded the NGO, the cebu permaculture initiatives. and got started with developing two demo sites: one urban (1200 sqm in the middle of the city), and one rural (4 ha, about 30 km south of the city), and recently began the eco-renovation of our 35 yr old small hotel. we have many projects lined up. people here are starting to be interested in permaculture and the solutions it offers.
with permaculture, it's getting more exciting by the day.
