About

Homelessness. I founded a homeless awareness project with a direct service "kntting activist "component; 1000 Hats and Scarves:Warm for Winter Campaign. Hundreds of individuals and organizations too, have joined up in this effort to gift and assist the deserving homeless stay a little warmer in the winter while awaiting much needed housing. Everyone should have a place to call home. We all have the ability to participate in the efforts to end homelessness locally and globally. Let's consider our individual tools and skill sets. Homelessness is caused by persons living in poverty. Poverty only makes ones life much more complex a puzzle to navigate through. Of course there are often other issues that compound the groundwork for human beings ending up homeless,  though the primary reason is simple abject poverty.  Often persons that live with those confusing conflicts that result in some becoming homeless and others not;  the success for those individuals is directly related to their support systems. The persons that do not end up homeless is dependent on strong family circles, work place supports, involvement with congregations that care and act on prevention and or truly housing persons in need. Lets pool our resources . HELP! Within your group you identify with; you could pull together an empty room or house, $$'s for basic needs, collect appropriate good quality clothing, hold a healthy food drive, offer a job or career opportunity that truly is sustainable, then apply all those components with mentors and you will successfully have housed a needy individual or family. Call your politicians! Ask them to support low income affordable housing and other bills that promote economic growth and equality for those that live in poverty. Build a political Will to end homelessness; be a positive policy changer, live like; and learn from our leaders of the past that made those positive social changes that have left us with the legacy of hope that we are all here to follow up on. We are their children, with visions for a sustainable liveable society, better for all. We can all be leaders in helping assist in making a positive change now.

Hi Janice,

Found your comment on JonRamer's profile saying "I need to find out how to build people onto my name ( networks) and how to better utilize this wonderful resource!". Thought of pointing you out to the "Get Involved" page to help you with that:

I love your work on "showing love" for the homeless. Though I've never actually got involved in such effort, I'm trying to trace the roots of homelessness, or poverty in general, and hope to find a way to tackle the problem at source.

Nice to know you and your work.

Hi Janice,

Thanks for the comment! I would love to meet up and discuss homelessness awareness initiatives, however I am currently en route to Europe for grad school. I am available via email and WiserEarth, however, so feel free to contact me.

Thanks for the work you do, and let me know if there's any way that WiserEarth can better assist your project.

best,
Molly
