Ironically, within two months I moved to San Francisco and reduced my daily commute from 30 to 4 miles. I parked my biodiesel MBZ and was riding public transportation to work. Everyday, I smiled knowing I had reduced my carbon emissions 80% by simply changing to the best smelling alternative fuel and taking the train. From there, my roommates and I began indoor composting, painted our apartment with non-VOC paint and decorated our single paned windows with thermal curtains. We changed lightbulbs, bought local organic food and celebrated how cool our choices were!

I believe in grassroots efforts. Start small and it can grow big! Our friends love our worms and can’t believe we have almost no garbage because we compost, recycle and buy in bulk. We reuse what we have and we think about what we buy. A wonderful consciousness sailed into our lives when all three of us had the same desire: to change how we live and lower our impact on the Earth.

This is why I started greenPRIDE. To share ideas, encourage positive change and inspire the desire to live a more balanced life. I believe this creates balanced communities that naturally create a healthier, balanced environment for all of us (animal, plant, mineral) to enjoy!
