About
I am me; Scottish, Irish, Native American(2 ancestors from Cherokee, 1 from Creek), English, Spanish, German, Roma. These are the ones I know for sure. Born in the United States. I do artwork when I can. I tinker with old tech to try to find ways of using it now. I like taking old items that are out of date and giving them new or updated purpose. I write but have not been published since one of my professors included one of my poems in her book she was publishing. I hope to one day write on a regular basis. I like to help others improve what they have made. Since my stroke I do not have some of the information I used to.
The following statement is made due to treatment recieved previously on other sites. If it does not apply here then I am greatly thankful.
I am a disabled veteran. I took no life and did my best to insure that none I was responsible for directly or indirectly lost theirs. I am joining this site with hopes of learning more and sharing anything which I can that might help others. One of my first ancestors to the US was an aid to General George Washington. Someone in my family has died in every war that was fought to keep this country free. One of my best friends is a Montanyard who was a prisoner of war for 13 years. He rescued 2 US POW's and was captured on his attemp to free a third. His daughter was forced to watch as her husband and son were executed by North Vietnamese. She was kept alive for other purposes which out of respect to her, I will not mention here. I have joined other "green" sites and on more of them than not I was flamed for having served in the military. In the US. a few other countries and on the internet one can share ones opinions openly. For those in the US I would like to share something with you. The US flag, The red stripes represent the blood that was shed by those who lost their lives to make this country free, the white stripes represent the bandages of those who were injured in battles to obtain freedom for it's citizens, the gold stars on the blue field represent the hopes of a bright future based in the ideals of a system which now allows such things as free speech. The thing to notice is that three fourths of the flag of the US is red and white stripes so that we might never forget the blood that was shed or the pain and suffering of those who wore the bandages to support that bright future and those ideals. So if anyone plans to flame... "an opinion shouted from a housetop of one who does not appreciate the one who built the house on which he stands, his cries have no more weight than the false cries of a spoiled child" Author unknown.
I love to study green technology. I have been reading The Mother Earth News since I was 10. I hope one day if my health allows to live in a house that is built from mostly if not all easilly renewable materials in a section of the Appalacian Mountains. I have been supplementing my store bought food for 3 years now with no pesticide added vegetables grown in 100% compost with no fertilizer. I recently aquired a wood stove and hope to install it to assist my grid powered heat pump in winter. I know that it will emit green house gasses. I hope to eventually go to all solar and wind power and will if I am able to physically and finacially.
If I am ever able to I would like to start a business that sells alternative power systems at reduced prices, or at least a more affordable price than most are now.
