About

We started in May 2007 as a group of graduated biologists from the Universidad del Valle in Cali.  We are an enthusiastic group of staff and volunteers, and focus on environmental research, conservation, agroecology and ecotourism

So far, we have worked with the community of Potrero Grande in Cali to control ants -  Atta cephalotes - that were destroying a dike protecting their homes from the river Cauca.  We have also realized research on another species of ants in the Universidad del Valle.

We prepared a project to mount a butterfly garden for a conserved area (Reserva Natural de la Sociedad Civil Los Chagualos)  in Tuluá (Valle), and are waiting for financing to develop it.  Complementary to this project we would like to sample the most beautiful butterflies - Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea - of the Valle del Cauca.  We think that some of those species could be reproduced under controlled conditions to repopulate areas where those populations are under stress, and eventually those specimens could be used for certified exportation to other laboratories and museums worldwide.

We prepared environmental education packages (composting, recycling, science projects, etc.) for schools in and around Cali.

We also offer guided tours to watch birds and butterflies in the mountains near Cali.
