Robert Johnson, the founder of ESS, is a visionary leader who transformed a startup green company into a global industry leader. When he founded ESS in 1993, Johnson already had twenty years of experience in technical and management positions within the commercial environmental systems industry, last with United Technologies.
He is a recognized industry expert in the areas of the Clean Air Act Title VI, ozone depleting and global warming chemical management, hazardous waste management and indoor air quality. From the time he founded ESS, Johnson's personal vision has been to use emerging technologies to manage the emissions of industrial companies proactively and limit the impact of necessary processes on the environment. Now he has gone even further in helping his global customers minimize their carbon footprint on the planet.
Mr. Johnson has also been nominated for the EPA's Stratosphere Ozone Protection and Climate Protection awards. He is a member of organizations including ASTM – ISO 14000 on Environmental Management, Air Conditioning Contractors of America, the Air and Waste Management Association, and is a charter member of the Arizona IAQ Council
