About
I grew up in Boulder, CO but moved to Portland, OR to attend Reed College. At Reed I studied Sociology and focused on the social construction of technology, and I managed to write my BA thesis on the history of the US wind power industry (library record | get the pdf).
After graduating I interned with Renewable Northwest Project RNP in Portland and then I began working for McCullough Research, an energy consulting firm also in Portland. I like to call my work at McCullough forensic economics, as it was primarily investigating and researching Enron's manipulations of the Western electricity markets in order to help prepare expert testimony for Snohomish County PUD's litigation against Enron at the FERC. I have also researched the economics of ethanol production in a world of high oil prices.
At the end of December 2007 I left my position at Ecotrust in Portland where I was the Citizenship Program Manager. In that role I was responsible for leading public engagement campaigns about about the importance of place for building a triple bottom line economy in the Salmon Nation region.
I am a recent graduate from the leading MBA program in sustainable business at Bainbridge Graduate Institute.
I subscribe to Einstein's sentiment: "The world we have created today as a result of our thinking thus far has problems that cannot be solved by thinking the way we thought when we created them".
