About

I am a documentary filmmaker. While my films have covered many issues, my primary focus is sustainable agriculture -- how we can move away from the industrial-chemical agribusiness model, and back to a more organic, small family farm model.  I serve on committees for this focus and have produced three films thusfar about elements of sustainable agriculture, which can be viewed and ordered on my website: www.walkyourtalkproductions.com.

As Chairperson for the Ojai Valley Green Coalition's Food & Agriculture Committee, I am facilitating a practical approach of "thinking globally and acting locally" by holding our meetings in people's gardens. Our intent is to grow more edible landscaping by fostering a new "Victory Garden" movement locally. As we grow more of our own food, many other issues will be positively impacted.

I am married, approaching the big 6-0, have a 16-year old daughter and an 87-year old mother living at home with us.  I consider myself more pagan than anything, with heavy Buddhist leanings. The Big Island of Hawaii is my spiritual home, though California is where I live. I am a cultural creative through and through, and though dismayed by the state of the world at this juncture, am a problem-solver personality and have radical trust that we're going to find our way in rebuilding a just world.

Happiness and tranquility arise from concentration. Frustration and worries arise from desire.

The highest good is like water.
Water gives life to the ten thousand things and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao.

In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
In speech, be true.
In ruling, be just.
In business, be competent.
In action, watch the timing.

I'm looking forward to learning more about the Grow Food Party Crew concept -- because I want to help facilitate creating more edible gardens and I think it's time we had more fun doing the hard work of life.  Many hands make work easy, and some good food - music - and a party attitude sound WAY cool.
