About
After retiring I moved with my husband to Blackheath in April 2007. Previously lived in Epping and enjoyed gardening on a large suburban block there. We used to grow vegetables and keep hens there until I returned to full time work in 1992. I have 2 grown children and a dear little granddaughter for whom I want the world to be better. I flip flop from deep despair to great hope about the world and desperately want to be part of the solution. I am on the management committee of the local neighbiourhood centre and have joined the Conservation Society. I enjoy going to the nursery on a tuesday morning and picking up the tube stock, with which we are planting an instable slope at the back of our property, trying to restore it to its natural state. This will be a slow process as we are getting rid of blackberry and numerous other noxious weeds (monbretia, broom, holly and the like) at the same time. We recently bought 4 hens and love to see them pecking around, scratching in the mulch. We are on the verge of building a no dig vegetable garden, as our back yard is now approaching a usable state.
Not very exciting to anyone but us; we are enjoying life up here, love the coolness and getting used to the differentness of the gardens from Sydney.
I am hoping to gain inspiration and practical help from this organisation and hope to be able to contribute something as well in return.
