About
I'd eventually like to find a career in the world of green but I'm not exactly sure what I'd like to do. Only recently have I become an advocate for a sustainable earth and it is one thing I know I am passionate about. I'm sure I will become involved in green organizations when I move out. For now, I'm just getting my feet wet in learning about all of the different areas of focus and what is out there. WiserEarth seems like a great resource.
Currently, I work for the NYS Division of the Budget, specifically working on the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) budget. OMRDD is a huge state agency that performs extremely valuable services. One of my pet projects is pushing OMRDD to get involved in greening its community residences. Along with its not-for-profit provider network, OMRDD serves over 140,000 people with developmental disabilities, so there are lots of opportunities to green residences, day service programs, etc. I'm excited to see how it all plays out.
I'm a huge sports fan and enjoy playing softball, golf, tennis and any lawn game.
I've recently read "The World Without Us" and "Blessed Unrest and am currently reading The Secret History of the American Empire (fascinating).
