About
Greetings all, I am a former research intern at the Natural Capital Institute. I produced the podcasts and video tutorials on the site. That's my voice you're hearing :) I also pioneered the embedding of YouTube videos on Areas of Focus portals as an interactive educational tool. I work at a Odin's Hammer, a green building design/build general contracting firm, in Berkeley. One of my roles there is to evaluate the financial incentives of investing in green design. I organize entrepreneurial marketing for the company. I conduct research and co-author articles (1, 2, 3) regarding green building issues. I am also preparing outreach and educational classes and seminars for homeowner's and others who will benefit from green building design. My educational backround is in Economics and Environmental Studies. I wrote a thesis on the economics of green building design. I co-founded the non-profit group BuildGreen Architecture and Advocacy through the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at the University of Iowa. Much of my education was self-taught on the intersection of the economy and the environment. My thinking and life were heavily influenced by the book Natural Capitalism. Some pleasures in my life are climbing, yoga, slacklining, biking, and disc sports. |

I am workin on a coalition that is trying to engage online users about the positive benefits of updating our CAFE and RES standards. Daniel, thanks for spreading the word on 11th hour action. I got on the site and invited inspired people to consider followup conversations in their communities, using simple powerful processes like the "world cafe" and "open space" that support raised awareness and better choices.
My question is how may I connect with people who participated in the Berkeley special opening event? And were any plans made for other gatherings? |

Thanks for the navigation help. I have checked out the Chicago Exchange and found it very helpful. As a Canadian I found it interesting only one engineering firm , that being in Toronto was certified to validate carbon reductions. I also found the aggregation of credits very interesting. In BC, the Provincial government is looking at a cap and trade system in cooperation with California , Oregon and Washington State. As I get more information I will post on this site. Charles |

Hi Daniel
I hope you might find this of interest!
A recent chain of events has turned World Fair Trade Day into what could become one of the most significant days of our lives.
Please take a couple of moments to read this document and circulate it through friends, associates and any groups you believe to be committed to positive change.
We need to generate massive participation, across trade, environmental, health, education and social justice networks, if we are to build a platform for genuine Fair Trade and the future we all want to see.
We’d love to sign off ‘Hope you are well’ but this time it’ll have to be...
We’re counting on you.
