I'm interested in researching ways to make our use of technology sustainable.  There was just an interesting article about how much energy it takes to run a Google search - which has since been refuted by both the lead scientist of that report and by Google.  But still, it was a nice eye-opening examination on the things we take for granted, and how every bit of use we eek out of our gadgets has an environmental impact somewhere along the way.
