About
I currently have a post-doctoral position in sustainable communtiy development as part of Ann Dale's Canada Research Chair. My background is in Environmental Sciences which I read at Southampton University, UK. A short, enlightening but ultimately unfulfilling stint in consultancy led to seven years in Manchester working on a number of landscape, sustainability and quality of life capital orientated research projects. During this time I acheived an M.Sc in Pollution and Environmental control and a PhD in Planning and Landscape examining quality of life capital in post-industrial landscapes.
My main areas of research interest are the relationship between communities and landscapes in which they live, and how this influences their sustainable community development. Notions such as landscape multifunctionality, quality of life capital, urban fringe and post-industrial landscapes and sustainability are of particular interest.
