About
When i'm not out hiking and enjoying what Earth is, this is what i'm working on:
Family and Home. Living a simple life with my love April and two absolutely radical children in deep discovery of what it means to be alive at this particular time on Earth. Still discovering that one myself!

The IEA runs two major program areas: Earthlands (an off-grid conference and retreat center in Petersham, MA) and University of the Wild (provides earth-based education programs that empower people to become leaders in growing new and sustainable cultures).
Valley Alliance of Worker Cooperatives
[I'm Gaia Host's representative to VAWC]
A bioregional alliance of worker-owned cooperatives in the Connecticut River Valley region of Massachusetts and Southern Vermont.
Eastern Conference for Workplace Democracy
[I'm an elected voting member of the Coordinating Council and lead facilitator]

Charles - I'm involved with the Common Good Bank as well. Glad to (virtually) meetchya! Really curious about Lupinwood, just starting studying permaculture and have been "doing" community for a while. Love to talk to you more about all of it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Winter Solstice Morning
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second snow of the season
Piling on top of the snow just fallen
Walking up the tractor plowed road
What grid? ...as industry disappears behind.
Past the sheep shed and old storm broken tree
To a single track of cross-country ski's covered by fresh snow
Out into the field and a turn into the Stone Circle
Finding my place, dusting off the snow and sitting facing the North
In meditation and prayer for Earth
For these Lands as All Land
In honor of the ancestors
And to honor the children to come
Love to the Spirits of East and the rising Sun, this Winter Solstice Morning
Love to the Spirits of South and may there always be Love and Fun here
Love to the Spirits of West and the trails of hardship we must heal
Love to the Spirits of North and our ancestors, may we honor them
Life, Death, Rebirth
The cycle continues and we walk our path of harmony on its hoop
Persisting, Loving, Caring, being Human as best as we can be
Our offerings of stewardship and care to this Land
May we always work together in deep dialog with You
Thank you to our elder Larry for his love for this Land
For seeing it through many beautiful and challenging times
For continuing to be his strong loving presence
as the Land transitions to the next generation
Thank you to the circle of community of Earthlands
All those that carry a little bit of love for this Land in their hearts
Now is the day that the Land returns to Herself
When we become the caretakers of Her for the generations to come.
For Earth,
Charles Uchu Strader
