About

Many people say that I have lived through some really hard and challenging experiences. I don't disagree, but through them and because of them there has been great learning and positivity.

My partner, Rebecca, and I became parents in 1992 when we were 23. Our beautiful daughter, Naomi, was injured during her birth leaving her with spinal cord damage which resulted in her need for full-time physical support and the use of a powered wheelchair.

In 2002, Rebecca finally lost the fight against cancer. Aged 34, the pain she suffered due to the continued growth of a brain tumor eventually became too much and she ended her days on morphine in a hospice.

These experiences, no matter how painful they were at the time, have led me to a greater awareness and understanding of life and death, and of  what is truely most important for us as humans. Love, companionship and compassion.

Back in 2005, Naomi and I were approached by the documentary makers, Films Of Record, who asked us to be two of the subjects in their film about single parent fathers.

What followed was a year of our lives making regular film diary entries which were to form the main footage of film, 'My Heart Belong To Dad'. Also during that year I began to use the camera for my own purposes, learning techniques and developing skills in film making.

As a gift for giving out time for the documentary, the film company gave Naomi and myself the professional camera we had been using. Since then, we have been using the camera to develop many interesting film projects.

Then, during the Summer of 2006, Huw and I were introduced by a mutual friend and Huw told me of his desire to make a film about the wisdom of inspiring people. So began the journey of Blazing Wisdom........www.blazingwisdom.com -

Blazing wisdom is a dynamic project inspired by life, by men and women from all cultures and the far corners of this incredible planet.

By meeting inspirational and passionate people from across the world we ask three questions that relate to our history, our current situation, and the future all life faces on earth.

Through the fascinating emerging story, we soon realise this is not a solitary journey, and everyone single one of us plays a part.

No matter how small we all leave some kind of legacy, the question is, what will our collective legacy be?

Blazing wisdom is the first major project of Inavizion, a new company being set up in Brighton, Sussex in 2008. Blazing wisdom itself has three main aims, to make a film, to create a documentary series and a cutting edge web archive of interviews with some of the most inspirational people alive today.

Dear Carl

I agree with you entirely. As one who has been studying, conversing, contemplating and eating and drinking the premise of the absolute unity of existence for many years, I'm increasingly convinced that the proof for what we really know about oneness becomes evident in all our relationships.

I'm deeply moved, not only by the way you have been increased in a "greater awareness and understanding of life and death, and of  what is truly most important for us as humans. Love, companionship and compassion" in the face of death and great adversity, but also with the way in which you have been 'adopted' by a truly inspirational work.

This is something I've been dreaming to do myself for many years but only got to the stage of buying FinalCutPro as well as doing a 3 day intro course...

Best wishes

Narda

Carl -

I just visited your page for the first time and your heartrending account is indeed inspirational and deeply-moving despite the hardships and tragedy that your family has had to face in your young lives.

Good luck with the projects you describe, and please share with us their progress - and blessings to you and your daughter always.
