Hi There :)

Please call me Bowo.

Lands I've wandered upon.

(Want your own map?)

I'm a starting-out writer living in the suburbs of Jakarta, Indonesia, and a beginner in the greater movement of making our civilization one worthy of sustaining.

I have a passion for learning. Learning to connect the dots, to find missing pieces, to reassemble the pieces into a comprehensible whole, to make sense of the whole picture with the best of ideals our world could have, and to paint a better whole when things end up just not good enough.

At the beginning of 2007, I (finally) started blogging to archive, organize and share those learnings @ "Nooventures -- Mind Ventures in the Quest for a Life-Sustaining Civilization Design". I consider this quest as my mental Everest and it is encouraging to learn that WiserEarth is full of seasoned climbers of this very mountain I am trying to picture clearly and conquer. I hope to learn from you all and give a little something in return for this collective endeavour.

Other than that, I enjoy smooth music, horizon-broadening readings, inspiring movies, fast-moving sports (basketball, soccer, table tennis, badminton), and friendly conversations with good and long laughs in them.

We Are

A little while ago, I finished reading the Deathly Hallows, the final installment of a series I consider to be an excellent symbolic representation of the human condition and predicament--right there in the same league with Matrix the trilogy. In many ways, it also symbolize the things that folks in WiserEarth are doing all over the world.

The difference with our reality is the fact that either we don't have any Harry Potter or Neo, or ours is one no longer in need of such personas. I believe, like many others, it is because "we... are the ones we have been waiting for", and it will take each and every one of us to think clearly, to make conscious choices, and and to take actions -- however small -- that will help make the world a better place for all.

"What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad....You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." (Morpheus, The Matrix)

"Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy." (Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)

Nice to meet you. I hope to know you better, to learn from you and to co-create with you our future here together on earth.

Namaste,
Bowo

Sounds like a tricky situation.

It seems that everywhere, society is taking away children's freedom bit by bit.

To link it from your profile there are two ways:

1. Go to your profile, click [Edit] on About section, and copy-paste the URL of that organization's website. If you want to 'link', use the gray chain icon in [Edit] mode. Click here for a tutorial on editing, including how to make links.

2. Create an organization profile for The Childrens Right to Play

Or, you can do both ways. Let me know how it goes.

Greetings Bowo

Please can you help. Iv'e just been e-mailed details of a much needed organisation - The Childrens Right to Play. Here in the UK there is much concern regarding the protection of the children. In fact there is over load on the child protection procedure which is casting a shadow on all well intentioned people. I can see it is starting to escalate to paranoia about who is caring for our children in innocent past-times where they really ought to just be allowed to play. BBC tele. has been involved and has not helped problem by not giving this organisation full and open coverage on their programme.

Paradoxically, this lack of mis-trust is permeating into our society fueled by the very tool which is providing such an amazing resource for Wiserearth, namely the internet. I would like to put this link onto my profile but not being very clever around technology how do I proceed?

Warm Regards Gill (Rainbowbridge)

Greetings Gillian. Glad to have you here and in that group :)

You are too kind with your words. Just trying to do my bit, as anyone else--young and old--who really care, are doing it.

Charter of Rights for the Planet sounds like the Nature Rights doctrine that is starting to take root in law (starting with inclusion in Ecuador's constitution). The way we govern ourselves and relate to nature (dominant of which are the so called "representative democracy" and "(supposedly)-free market capitalism") is evolving. So I'm keeping my mind open and hope up.

I think part of the issue is that the system delegates too much power to certain nodes in it, and weaken the ability of the rest to govern and sustain themselves. Politicians by definition under the (currently) dominant system, seems to act alike regardless of location and time, but there are gems, sometimes hidden, sometimes known. Those are the ones I seek and support in my little ways.

Looking forward for more conversations Gillian.

Greetings Bowo

Many thanks for your kind invite ~ it will be a priviledge to be part of your group. For me, it is so encouraging to hear about the energy and enthusiasm which is permeating out into the collective consciousness. If you are an example of the youth today, I really do not think we 'oldies' have anything to fear for the future.  It saddens me though to acknowledge the damage and wrecking that has been metered out over the past generations. I love Polly Higgens idea of a Charter of Rights for the Planet.  I also feel we may consider psychological profiles on our world 'leaders' to establish their suitability for such responsible positions. Here in the UK the integrity of some of our prominent politicians is under scrutiny. It has been a shock especially as I feel we have in the past placed so much trust in our political system.

Blessings in all you do, Namaste, 'Rainbowbridge'

Hi Celeste,

None that I know of. I'd love to participate if there are.

It seems though, what's needed more here is raising the level of public awareness first before something like TT can grow. To prepare the soil (and the gardeners!) for the seed to grow properly.

As I'm more a man of ideas, I do imagine lightly at times about starting one myself. Who knows what the future holds...

Cheers,

Bowo

Hi Bowo
I hastely set up an account this morning and then realised that I'd have been better placed if I had used my org as a user name.  I can see that this has created some problems for me now.  I would have thought hat chaning a user name would not be an issue and for the IT guy I use fixing this glitch would probably not be much of an ordeal.  I think now that I may have to create a new email identity to have my verification email send to, create a new account using a different user name and then try to delete the old account.  Great looking service and I can't wait to get it up and running but a bit of an ordeal for such a minor error of judgement.
Can I recommend someone to fix it for you.  He's very reasonable.
Cheers
Rob

Hi Garbiela,

Yes indeed. I remember very clearly how Sesame Street taught me a lot of things in childhood (and I don't even understand English at the time!). They now have an Indonesian version which is equally interesting, funny and educational (even for people of my age!).

Best wishes for your work,

Bowo
