Hello all. I'm the former technical director at WiserEarth. During my 2 years with the project I helped to develop and enhance this site and the open sourced the WISER platform. I was thrilled and fortunate to have the opportunity to apply my skills to a project that is helping to further this amazing movement that we're all a part of.
Prior to WiserEarth, I worked at Genentech, which is a biotech company in South San Francisco that makes drugs that treat multiple forms of cancer, heart attacks, stroke, cystic fibrosis and other illnesses. I worked in IT at Genentech for 14 years and I truly value the experience I gained there, the values of the company, and especially the friends I made along the way. In the summer of 2006, I decided to take some time to live life a little more and connect with my family.
So, I quit my job and spent the next 8 months reconnecting with my wife Andrea, and our two daughters, India and Ellia.
During my time away from work I started mountain biking and enjoying the beautiful natural spaces in the SF Bay Area. I also had the time to reflect on what the next chapter of my life should look like, and I decided that if I was going to work, it would be on something that I'm really passionate about. I feel very strongly that as a species, we need to find our way back to living as part of nature and not trying to control or compete with it. I also believe that I'm not the only one who feels that way. What I find most inspiring about WiserEarth is that it will help show all of us that we're not alone, and that we have more than it takes to be in a world we can all be proud of.
I'm very interested in hearing about how this site is (or could be more) useful to you, so please feel free to email me or use the internal WiserEarth messaging feature.
