5. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
OHCI’s principal Aims and Objectives are

To accelerate advocacy by promoting the efforts of partners in the Human Rights sector to fight against and/or stamp out the abuse of marginalized children at all levels;



To provide and adequate, effective and durable care and support systems in order to ensure their housing, vocational/educational, psychological and emotional growth, advancement and wellbeing;

To  continue lobbying the Sierra Leone Government/ other governments and agencies, so as to remove the structures that are militating against the rights, welfare and security of homeless/orphaned children; and in so doing

To effectively bridge the socio-economic and psychological gap that divides these children from their community/other communities in line with IDGs as spelt out by U N System, A U/NEPAD and the rest of the international community.       

6. GOALS:


Encouraging significant national and international instruments/laws and policies that aim at protecting, promoting and respecting children’s rights, and ensuring the deliverance of relevant humanitarian values;

Providing conducive living and learning environments for destitute children; by 




Empowering (marginalized) children to realize and regain their human potentials as resources for stable development  and harmonious coexistence in their or any  0comminity;

Fostering common and/or friendly relationships among children worldwide through exchange programmes and/visits and other peace or development oriented activities. 





7. VISION:

Create safer communities and better livelihoods for every homeless/orphaned child living on the edge and imbibe in him/her a sense of self-worth through the promotion of his/her social and economic wellbeing.
