My love affair with nature is rooted in sports. As an Ironman triathlete who swims, bikes and runs in some of the world's most stunning places, I've watched our planet get dirtier, more polluted, and more carelessly destroyed - despite all the talk about global warming and "going green."

The problem is, everyone thinks it's their right to enjoy a clean  environment, but no one believes it's their responsibility.

I know. I've been there. I worked for the Big Big Corporations and tried to fill shoes that didn't fit. I've always been a connector, so I decided to use that skill to tackle one of the planet's biggest issues.

I created Laneo to connect people around the globe and to build the tools they need to make a difference. I want to give something real and tangible to my son's generation. I want him to understand what his Dad really does.

As a child, I was influenced by some amazing friends, relatives and teachers who showed me not only how to respect the planet, but also how to enjoy it. From geophysicists to National Geographic photographers and deep-sea explorers, these people imprinted me with a lasting passion for nature. I've also been very fortunate to spend time with indigenous peoples around the word who all spread the same message:

Protect the earth.

Simple, right? Yes and no.

I've dropped almost everything for this project and I pray that everyone I've lost sight of will forgive me. I hope my body does, too. But I am deeply, fully committed to creating change. Honestly? I'm obsessed.

Laneo is a starting point, a paradigm shift, a virtual campsite and a place to provoke hands-in-the-dirt action. It's a space for learning, sharing and speaking up. It's meant to inspire you and to help you enjoy the outdoors in the very best way possible.
