I am a scientist and green business/policy analyst focused on sustainable economy. Equally interested in ecological economics, natural capitalism, global climate change, green technologies and policies in sustainable development. A generalist with depth, I am passionate about positive solutions that address current state of global environment and human societies.
After completing my PhD in biology at the University of Miami, I taught students and conducted research at the University of Mississippi. After realizing that the fundamental cause of current global environmental crisis lays in economics and government policies (not in the lack of scientific knowledge), I left academics to advise at CDD Inc. (San Francisco Bay Area) in project development and emerging new biotechnologies. At the same time, I volunteered at the Natural Capital Institute with the WiserEarth project where I got familiar with the natural capitalism concept. I also worked with Donald S. Simon (co-founder of US Green Building Council NCC) and Patrick Shannon (entrepreneur) on global warming impact and economics. My gained experience in academia, industry and NGO led me to co-found and direct Ecological Economics Institute, a non-profit organization with its primary goal to promote development of sustainable economy. In addition, I acted as a lead/managing editor of the peer-reviewed book project in conservation and management of natural resources at San Francisco State University.
